New Aged Care Act & Support at Home Program Delayed Until 1 November 2025

Update: New Aged Care Act & Support at Home Program Delayed Until 1 November 2025

The Australian Government has announced that the implementation of the new Aged Care Act and the Support at Home program will now take effect from 1 November 2025, instead of the originally planned 1 July 2025.

At AMCS, we welcome this delay as an opportunity to ensure the aged care sector is fully prepared for the reforms. This additional time allows us, and the wider sector, to better align systems and services in the best interests of our clients, particularly those from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities.

As a multicultural community care organisation, we remain committed to delivering high-quality, culturally inclusive, and person-centred care throughout this transition period.

Maryanne Tadic, CEO of AMCS, reassures clients and families:

It’s business as usual at AMCS. While the Government refines the reforms to better support older Australians, our priority remains delivering exceptional care every day. We thank our clients and community for their trust and patience. We understand that change can be disruptive, but we want to assure everyone that their services will not be affected during this delay. Our team will continue to keep clients informed and supported through each step.

We would also like to acknowledge the significant work undertaken by our dedicated staff, who have worked tirelessly to prepare our systems and processes in advance of the original 1 July timeline. Their efforts have not been in vain, AMCS is well-positioned for the 1 November rollout of the new program.

The revised timing will also allow us to further progress our advocacy efforts on behalf of the CALD community, to ensure the program takes into account the additional challenges faced by older people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
