AMCS Calls for Multicultural Solidarity

Statement from Australian Multicultural Community Services

Australian Multicultural Community Services (AMCS) strongly condemns the hate-motivated violence that occurred at Bondi Beach last night and extends our sincere condolences to everyone affected by these tragic events.

Violence driven by prejudice has no place in Australia. It causes significant harm to individuals, families, and communities, and undermines the safety, trust, and social cohesion on which our society depends.

AMCS acknowledges the profound impact of this incident on Jewish communities. We also recognise that such events can contribute to heightened fear and unfair sentiment across communities, including toward Muslim communities, and we reject all forms of collective blame, racism, and discrimination.

Australia’s strength lies in its diversity and in the way, communities come together in times of crisis. We draw reassurance from the many Australians of all backgrounds who acted with courage, care, and compassion to support others, reflecting the values that unite us.

AMCS calls for unity, responsible public discourse and continued commitment to mutual respect and inclusion. We remain steadfast in our role supporting safe, inclusive communities and in working with government, sector partners, and communities to oppose racism and all forms of hate.
