Money Smart for Seniors

Our Money Smart for Seniors project addresses the ‘silent crimes’ of elder financial abuse, scams and fraud.

Anyone can fall victim to financial scams. Since the tricks keep changing, it’s important to stay informed, be alert, and protect yourself. Together with community members, AMCS is co-developing a suite of resources to help individuals keep their finances secure. By collaborating with community groups, we’ve gained valuable insights into their experiences and needs, allowing us to tailor our support effectively.

The resources under development include –

• A Toolkit for more confident seniors to add to their skills
• Beat the Wolf card game for community groups to play so they can learn the skills for staying safe and practice using the skills with their friends
• Community videos showing how you can be a Money Smart Senior – stand up for your rights and repel attacks on your money
• A presentation pack for leaders wishing to run a session using these resources.

AMCS has been awarded a grant from the Perpetual Limited’s IMPACT philanthropy program to complete this project.
