AMCS match older adults and volunteers with a shared cultural background, hobbies and interest.

Volunteer Deb visits Dana weekly. A recent stroke limited Dana’s mobility to a few steps with a walker.

“Every time, I find a different café or a shopping trip for a scenery change. Dana is happy to go anywhere that gets her out of the house,” Deb says. “Slowly, I noticed a change in Dana. When I arrive, she is always smiling and eager to go.”

One time, Dana thanked her and asked why Deb helped her.
Deb replied, “Dana, why not?”
